Impact of COVID-19 coronavirus on UNH athletics

(Durham, NH) – The past two weeks, several major sports leagues and organizations postponed events due to the rapid spread of the coronavirus. UNH head athletic director Marty Scarano has been tasked with creating a plan for athletic teams in preparation.

Scarano believes that with a joint effort between the UNH athletic staff and school board, a strategic plan will be implemented to ensure the health of the athletes and rest of the school are top priority. In an interview he states, “This is a very fluid situation. All of us collectively will do what’s in the best interest of the students.”

At this time, UNH officials have not yet made an official decision on which precautions they will take with the University. Updates are likely to come within the next day or two, which will then allow Scarano and the athletic board to continue their efforts in organizing a plan.
